LPO

LPO, Acting for biodiversity

1st association for the protection of nature in France

The LPO (Bird Protection League) was born in 1912, at the initiative of militant volunteers wanting to put an end to the massacre of colonies of puffins nesting on the islands of Rouzic and Malban. The safeguard of this endangered species by these practices was only possible thanks to the action of volunteers and nature-loving scientists, who created the first nature reserve of seabirds in France, the Sept- he is. Since then, the LPO has continued to develop by increasing its actions to preserve biodiversity. Aware of the environmental issues, the LPO, in 2012, made the choice to extend its corporate purpose to the protection of the entire biodiversity which is threatened as a whole.

The missions of the LPO

"With the bird as an ambassador, almost a standard, we are now defending all of biodiversity. This is why we are investing in many sectors (species and natural spaces) with our intervention levers (protection, education, studies and research). Without forgetting the social aspect which has always animated us: this is how, for example, we work with the disabled world. "
